Why Choose Medical Sleep Solutions

Why Choose Medical Sleep Solutions?

Medical Sleep Solutions is one of the few centers in the DFW Metroplex that has earned their accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Ed Charnock and Dr. Jack Gardner are both board certified in Sleep Medicine and have been serving the area since 1989. We are one of the largest accredited sleep centers in the Dallas area with 7 beds in one convenient location.

Comprehensive Care Model

Medical Sleep Solutions is far more than a “Sleep Lab”.  For more than 30 years we have committed ourselves to providing a “comprehensive care” approach to sleep medicine.  Each patient has a clinical evaluation to determine the primary sleep related problems and develop a strategic plan for evaluation and management.

A sleep study is frequently required.  We offer comprehensive in sleep center overnight sleep studies and convenient home sleep studies. The type study chosen for you is determined by a variety of factors, including the data needed from the study and what your insurance company allows for your evaluation.

All patients follow-up to review sleep study results and discuss a treatment plan.  In the case of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a positive airway pressure (PAP) device may be recommended.  Depending on the severity of your sleep apnea, the prominence of low oxygen levels and insurance parameters, then an overnight study in our sleep center may be necessary to determine the optimal settings of the device to meet your needs.  Often, we are able to avoid the overnight PAP adjustment study and prescribe an automatic adjusting PAP device.  Your clinician will review which plan is best for you.

In the case of mild to low moderate OSA, an oral appliance may be a good initial treatment choice for you.  These devices are custom designed to advance the lower jaw allowing more room in the throat to breathe.  Our Dental Sleep Program has provided oral appliances for many years with Heath Roberts, DDS.   In certain circumstances, a surgical alteration of the airway may be appropriate.

Our staff has been serving the DFW area for over 30 years.  Dr. Charnock and Dr. Gardner were some of the first in the area to specialize in Sleep Medicine.
